That just goes to show what natural beauty the river, rock formations and its surroundings have. The Underground River can be found in The Puerto Princsesa Subterranean River National Park, along with other fun and exciting activities. At 4.3 km, it is said to be the longest navigable underground river in the entire world. There will be trained locals to assist in paddling your canoe and they are also quite helpful when you want to know anything about Puerto Princesa itself.
If you would like to do something on the ground, there is a jungle trekking adventure that awaits you. There are 8 forest formations that you may trek on beginning at Sabang to the underground river. On this 5.3 km trail, you will encounter the different types of forest formations and be able to hear sounds of the animals in the area. You may even be able to catch a glimpse of some of the animals such as monkeys, monitor lizards and squirrels in their habitat. This is a great hike for those that are physically fit as there are a few steep climbs throughout the trail.
The Park is also a great place to bird watch. It is known that at least 7 wildlife species call The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park their home. It would be a good idea to get a head start and begin early in the morning. It is advisable to come prepared with binoculars so that you do not miss a thing.
For a view of what a forest would look like if it was untouched by human intervention, take the Mangrove Paddleboat Tour. Here, visitors will be able to plant their own mangrove saplings to promote conservation of the area.
