One of the most popular cities to visit in Asia today is the region of Macau. The city has been lined with lavish hotels and casinos that can match the likes of those found on the infamous Las Vegas strip. As Asia’s gaming capital of the world, tourists can expect nothing but first class service at these establishments.
There are tons of casinos to choose from. These hotels are huge and are all about glitz and glam. The Venetian Hotel in Macau is said to be the largest casino in the world. They have 800 gaming tables and thousands of slot machines. The Venetian is also known to host many special events and live shows. Have kids? No need to fret because the people at the Venetian have already taken that into consideration. While you contemplate the cards dealt to you, your children will be busy at the 18-hole mini golf course found in The Venetian Kids Zone. The Venetian was a $2.3 billion project. With that said, expect only the best once you step into your hotel room.
As exciting as a good hand in poker may be, there are a lot of other things to see and do in Macau besides frequenting their world class casinos. If you want a dose of history, visit the A-Ma Temple which was built in 1488. This is the oldest of all the Chinese temples found in Macau. The temple is comprised of six sections. Each section has a pair of stone lions that are there to protect the architectural possessions found inside. The temple is said to honor Mazu, the goddess who was known to pray for the fisherman.
If you want to see the largest manmade water fountain in all of Asia, make time on your trip to check out the Cybernetic Fountain. This is a show that both children and adults will enjoy. The fountain has 86 water spouts with the central cannon shooting up to 80 meters of water. This laser and light show is quite remarkable with its 288 colored spot lights that glisten through the water. An added bonus is that there is no charge to watch this magical show. Show times do change, so it is best to check the schedule ahead of time.
